Having grown up in a tense home, Berlyn is guarded and tends not to express herself freely. She treats everyone with respect and speaks in a polite and almost formal manner. Non-confrontational and a people pleaser, she has no qualms in taking the blame; she’d take the easiest way to put out the fire.
She tends to keep herself out of problems that do not concern her but occasionally, sympathy and her kind nature wins over and she will lend a rare helping hand. Because of her personality, it takes some time for people to warm up to her.
Although she has a very passer-by attitude, she takes genuine interest in knowing other people. She is open-minded, non-judgemental and tends to focus on the good rather than the bad in others. Berlyn is an extremely organized person and a very reliable person. She is also disciplined and meticulous; once she had set her mind on something she will carry it out the best she can.
Berlyn was born into a wealthy German family who lived in Japan. Her grandparents had moved there before she was even born. She lived in a big home with her grandparents and her extended relatives. Her home condition was tense due to sibling rivalry amongst the adults. Because of this, Berlyn learned to be cautious and guarded at a very young age.
Her mother was a saxophone performer but was forced to give up her career after being diagnosed with lung cancer. Berlyn’s mother decided to pass on her saxophone knowledge to Berlyn, and was delighted to find out that Berlyn had natural talent for the saxophone. Berlyn doesn’t particularly enjoy playing the saxophone but continued doing so as it made her mother happy, and was more than grateful to be able to spend more time with her mother.
Her mother soon succumbed to the illness when Berlyn was 10. Her father started seeing another woman sometime after; something that Berlyn couldn’t approve of but never expressed. With her mother gone, Berlyn played the saxophone less frequently. It was during college that a friend of hers influenced her into joining the college’s orchestra club. Her coach was amazed by her skills in playing the saxophone and encouraged her to take it further. As she had not decided her career at that point of time, she considered the advice and later on decided to apply for a place at Clefford Conservatory.
-Still feels very neutral about the saxophone; to her, it is just something she does because she’s good at it.
-Hopes to learn to enjoy playing the saxophone more to understand how her mother felt.
-Can be random at times.
-Ties her hair in twintails because she has a LOT of hair and it feels bulky to her to put in a ponytail.
-Can speak English, German and Japanese.
-Back in Japan, her friends nicknamed her ‘Wolfberry’. In response she tends to connect herself to the fruit/plant even going so far as to wear hairpins inspired from wolfberry flowers and fruits (as seen in her headshot ^^^ )

Berlyn likes playing pieces of high technical difficulty as she finds it challenging. She does however prefer relaxing-sounding pieces.
She excels in technique and accuracy, but her playing lacks the emotional aspect to it; something she struggles with.
